Default Joining the cart craze

I have just joined the site and purchased my first cart last week. It's a 03 Club Car DS gas. I have already added a 6" allsport a-arm lift kit, 12x7 Fairway Hazard wheels, 23-10.5-12 EFX tires, adjustable headlights, extra leaf spring to the rear, power spring to the clutch, a used green body, and a tinted fold down windshield.

A little background about me.
As my username shows, I am a John Deere nut. I show antique tractors all over KY, TN, and IN. After doing this for several years, I decided I wanted something to ride around at the shows, but also use it getting around the farm and deer hunting. Mainly, I will use it for tractor shows and filling my deer feeder up with corn. I really wanted a side by side gator 620, but $10K wasn't worth it for no more than I was going to use it. So, I decided a cart would do. I love customizing and building stuff, so the cart idea had my mind wondering looking at all the add ons I could get.

Ultimately my cart will be a John Deere theme painted green with a yellow top and yellow and green striped seats. Over time, I want to add a rear seat, stereo, dash, steering wheel, brushguard, nerf bars, overhead fan, stainless kick plate and access panel, rear bumper, and some gauges. Like I said, I love the add on market. Then I might wonder into the speed and power side of it a little.

Hope everyone can help me when I have questions, because I am fairly dumb when it comes to cart part terminology.

Nice start! My brother is a JD nut also. He has a late 20's or 30's tractor. The kind you gotta spin the flywheel to start. Has the small 2 center tires up front and the big tall ones in back.

Welcome to BGW!

The cart looks great so far. You'll get wild with it. Keep the pics coming as you go.

I have 3. (2) are like you described except mine are electric start and from the 40's and 50's and are fully restored to showroom condition. And the other is a late 60's diesel that is my user tractor, but soon to be restored and retired from use.

Nice start on the cart. The theme you described sounds like it will turn heads at the shows. Welcome aboard! You will find all sorts of great information and helkp on this site.

I am going to paint it the correct green color. I just wanted a green base body color in case of getting a scratch or gouge. That way, a darker green will show instead of white. I have been reading in the paint section on how to prep it. Really not much different than a car except for the adhesion process before primer.

I will probably start disassembling it and sanding the scuffs and filling the holes where the rear top plastic "no step" plates are when the weather warms up in a couple of months. I am thinking of having my bodyshop buddy paint it with basecoat/clearcoat paint. I am trying to come up with a stripe design to where it is not just going to be John Deere green with decals. Some type of John Deere yellow stripes or John Deere yellow flames would be different.
