The G1 engine has arrived, it is setting in the shed at home waiting on me. I should be able to get started on it sometime Friday, it all goes well I should have it running by the end of the weekend.

I got the G1 engine installed today, once I figured out the wiring I got it fired up. It ran ok but I'm pretty sure the homemade governor rod (bailing wire) that runs from the exhaust flap to the bar on the fan cover is giving me issues. It will run ok for a few moments and then sputters and bogs down. I will have to do a bit more research on what I need to do to get that to work correctly. The good news is that it will move itself around, the bad news is it's going to take some time to figure out how to get it running like it should.

I finished a couple of items on the G16 today. Installed all of the lights and a trailer light plug in. I got to test the power of the BB, I hooked up my trailer and loaded a project that a neighbor brought over for me to work on. The BB pulled it great, albeit a little hair raising if you run at top speed. With the trailer on and that 4-wheeler loaded up I think the two of them weigh more than the cart and for some reason it feels just a little un-safe. I also got the GPS unit out to see what the top speed on this baby is, 38mph at 4800rpms. Anybody know what the "safe" range is for RPM's on a 23hp BB from CPP?

I got a chance to work on the G16 the last couple of days, removed and painted body and roof, installed some LED lights to help with the night driving, installed a radio, front bumper and a rear disc brake kit. I ordered new seat covers, red of course, they should be in this next week.

I had to leave this thread for a while and start a new one on some issues I was having with the G1.

Here is what I have done to the G1 since I've been gone, new carb, fuel pump, cylinder and piston kit, plug, air filter, and fuel filter. It has taken me a while to get all of these things done and not a one of them fixed my running issue. The motor would just flood out after running for a short time. Looooong story short the whole problem was a poor ground to the coil. Installed a jumper from the battery ground to the coil ground and it runs good. Now it is time to do some fine tuning and find a thread on adjusting the governor to get a little more speed out of it. Pictures to come this weekend and then it will be time to start on the body work and maybe a little paint.

The G1 is running reasonably well now, got a chance to get out and play some this weekend. The next part that will need to be worked on is the swing arm bushings, those suckers are shot. The rear end will sway back and forth as you swerve around. The brakes are pretty poor also so I will have to take a look at them as well. While out playing I think we may have toasted the clutch on my other G16, the white one. Oh well, at least I will have something to work on now. My son was driving the G1 with one of my daughters, one of the fun things about not having it lifted is the fact that you can get away with sliding them around a little.
