Scoot's new to me 2008 EZGO PDS build
Ok everyone, here she is...fresh from the golf course. This is going to be the neighborhood cruiser and fishing gear hauler (back and forth from the dock) It's a very clean 2008 in great condition....here we go!
I got the light kit done I will be installing the rear flip seat and the 5 pannel mirror this evening after work. I have a long wish list of mods for this thing, but I'm going to just do a little at a time, since the wife already says I have too many toys. I also have the freadom chip to install and the stereo parts should be here by the end of the week. I'm in serious need of a wheel and tire upgrade. The body is in good shape, so I'm staying with white for now. I want to do a custom paint job, but that's down the road a little. the bag rack and sweater basket come off tonight More to come.... |

Re: Scoot's new to me 2008 EZGO PDS build
I finally had some time for myself, so I went to work on the EZGO. Here's a few photos of the rear flip seat install. This is a MadJax kit, and the seats match perfectly to the EZ seats. It's much nicer than some of the other ones I've seen with the plastic foot rest. I picked up from David at Gulf Coast Golf Carts in MS.
I also put in the freadom chip and I went from 13 MPH to 18 MPH just like that, no real decrease in torque noticible on flat ground. (where I live, if you get off of flat land, you are in the water, not very hilly in South Louisiana) It's only 5 MPH, but it feels like the speed doubled |

Re: Scoot's new to me 2008 EZGO PDS build
I did the stereo over the weekend, it sounds better than I expected. I used a 52Wx4 Sony head unit and some Cadence marine 6 1/2's I got off Ebay new for 40 bucks, it is LOUD and suprisingly clear for being such a low cost system. (about 100 bucks all said and done)
I had an old marine battery sitting around that still holds a charge, just not good enough for me to trust out in the gulf, but good enough for this until I can pick up a new one. Fit right under my seat and is good enough for lights and music. I also installed one of those 5 pannel mirrors to see cars approaching behind me, but if vibrates like a son of a B, and give you a head ache if you look at it... not real happy with it. |

Re: Scoot's new to me 2008 EZGO PDS build
So this is more of a "long drawn out modification process", than an actual "build". I haven't really done much the past few weeks, other than drive it...and add some graphics to dress it up until it's time for paint (after wheels, tires, drive system, etc. upgrades) This will do for now. At least it doesn't look like I stole it from the golf course down the street!
HD rear springs and 4 AWG cables are next on the list. |

Thanks, I also fixed the vibrating mirror problem, drilled two more mounting holes in the mounting bracket and top supports and used some better screws, it's pretty solid now.

Re: Scoot's new to me 2008 EZGO PDS build
Well, I was planning to run out to a local shop and pick up my list of parts so I could get to work over the weekend, but they didn't have the wheels I want, and he would have had to order the springs....
I started shopping around on our sponsor page and found some great prices and free shipping! Now I'm just waiting on Brown (or maybe Fedex) to deliver a set of HD rear springs, 4 AWG cables to go all around, 6" spindle lift and a set of wheels and tires It's Christmas in July!!! My LED strips showed up on Saturday, gave me something to do while drinking beer in the garage Saturday evening...
