Advice on choosing a cart
I am new to the forums and do not currently own a cart myself but I am looking to buy. I have joined to forums in the hopes of getting your help on choosing the right cart for my needs. I am looking for a cart for my family and I to use to get around campgrounds when camping. I doubt very much that it will be used off road at all. My family consists of my wife and me and 3 kids ages 6, 6 and 3. My technical/mechanical skills are average at best (I can follow directions and do basic hands on types of jobs) and my work space is faily small relatively speaking. I was hoping for input as to what type of cart would best fit my needs, how much should I expect to pay for what would best fit my needs, an idea of where I would find my best deal, and any other information that you might feel would be helpful. Also I am the type of person who likes to likes doing small upgrades to things when I can and I was wondering if you feel there are some restoration/repair project that I might be able to handle. Thanks for any information you have.

Re: Advice on choosing a cart
Check your local Craigs List or Sportsman/Hunting site, most of your local golf cart guys post ads there for their business. You may also find a good deal on one that someone bought, drove around the yard a few times, and lost interest...
My opinion based on your post above would be to get a newer EZGO TXT, 2007-2008 with good batteries, 08 or newer, your 07 carts will have newer batteries. If your mech. skills are just average, you do not want to buy an old problem that will bring you more head aches than smiles. You will pay $1800-2300 for the cart. Have the guy install the lights for you, they can be a pain in the rear, especially if you're not big into wiring 12V systems (less than $200). You'll need the rear seat kit, can be bought for under $300 if you beat the guy up a little, and you can install yourself with a basic set of tools. You will be in business for around $2500, and can add more as you go, HD rear springs to support the kids will be needed eventually, and you can dress it up with pretty much anything you can imagine as you go. You will have fun, and it won't stay "stock" looking for long, it's addictive and you will have your own home version of Pimp my Ride going on in your garrage/back yard in no time. |
