Default Shifter handle

My cart is a '96 EZ-GO TXT, 36v. It's a series cart with the little short, black "shifter" handle by the driver's right knee. My wife has trouble "shifting" from F to R. I've lubed it all I can and my conclusion is the handle's just too short for her to get enough leverage. So, I want to make a longer shifter handle. The shaft is about 9/16" square. Do any of you guys know what I could find that would fit over the shaft? Once I have that part in hand then I can fab up the rest of it to suit my taste.
Thanks for your ideas

What about a beer tap handle like in the bars? They come in all sizes and should screw on the existing shaft...and at the same time promote your favorite drink!

bicycle left crank arm?

could cut the pedal end off, sand and then polish. OR fill it with jbweld and paint it. caps are readily available to cover the square tapered end. i might have one in the shop...

you can try and loosen the nut on the back of the fnr switch.. i did this and used this handle and it made a large difference.

I love those shifters too but they don't make one for my G9. Can you post some pic's of the "guts" part of it sometime? maybe I can rework it to fit mine.

One of our site sponsers offers the shifter that you would like. I have read all the posts...sure someone has mentioned that jakes makes a shifter that works great from what i've hear. It's in my master plan to do the same...not just for funciton...for the cool effect as well. Exgo does not have a good shifter stock...prone to failure and hard to shift.
