What drive system do you have? Series? PDS? And what motor are you getting ? Bandit? Assassin?

Amperage = torque and

48v and taller tires will help you reach 20 mph with that motor. You will need a bigger controller and HD F&R and 2g cables

It is harder to make a series cart fast than a Sepex or shunt wound motor.. series carts make more torque than speed. BUt it can be done both Gornoman and I have 25ish mph series carts, both with PQ motors and 48v.

Ok so I should buy a 500amp alltrax or other brand and 2 gauge wire. Do I have to add two batteries now with the 500amp controller or will it run with 36v. Do I need a new charger with 48v

You can get a 500 amp alltrax controller and 400 amp solenoid package that will run on 36v and 48v later..... you will need 2g cables and HD or at least a beefed up F&R

Getting the motor done is a step in the right direction. To get more speed out of a stock cart is a little more envolved.

You can go up to 48 volts and get the best results.

If you want to stay at 36 your best to put a good set of #2 cables on everything but the charger cables. If you go with a high amp controller you will gain some torque but not any speed. The 400-500amp controllers will be good make sure you get a programble one they are the best for the money.
