Re: yep im new.
Welcome! We are gonna change your name to the sublimegreen rider.
I have made seats from 3/4 inch exterior PTS ( plug-touched-sanded) plywood from HD. You will need to save all the hardware from the old seat. Get new fasteners at HD or lowes as well. The foam is the expensive part of the seat rebuild. So it is good to see if you can reuse or just add a thin layer or two of good carpet pad under the old foam. New 4 inch foam for both parts of the seat will cost about $100. |

Re: yep im new.
the foam is in fine shape only the wood is bad .the hardware from the old seat is whats giving me fits most of the bolts are spinning and the few that are not will break or have.
it's just the lower seat giving me fits . |

Re: yep im new.
Are you familiar with the type of nut used in a 'bolt into wood' application? Hard to explain but...they are a threaded cylinder with 2 or more sharp wings. When the cylinder is inserted into the pre-drilled hole the sharp wings bite into the wood and keep the cylinder 'nut' from spinning. Be careful not to over tighten this type of nut or they will spin out even when new.
You can buy these at Lowes or ? And new bolts. You may want to take it apert to see how it is made. |
