My 87 Marathon Build
Here is my first cart. It is a 1987 EZ-GO Marathon. Has the standard 2PG engine. Plans include a 5 inch lift and 22x11-8 tires. Not sure on paint yet, probably navy blue.
Cleaned out the carb and fuel lines first. Previous owner said it was leaking gas. Needle was very dirty causing it to stick. Lift kit was installed. Just a basic eBay 5" block lift. Seeing what the tires will look like when mounted. Tires are 22x11-8 from Tractor Supply. Motor had very low compression and was making a "wooshing" sound. After pulling the motor and head, this is what I found. New head gasket is in the mail along with 2.5" tire spacers all from eBay. More updates to come. |

Re: My 87 Marathon Build
Never would have thought of tractor supply for tires. If you don't mind, what did they charge?
Good luck with your cart |

Re: My 87 Marathon Build
Just got the wheel spacers and tires mounted. Spacers are 2.5" on each side, bought off of eBay. Had to put the seat on to see how it feels. I am really happy with the ride height.
Wiltz, the tires were 64.99 a piece at Tractor Supply. Pretty happy with them so far. Not sure on what color to paint it yet. |

Nice work so far. Keep it up! it's nice to see the older metal bodied carts get fixed up.
As far as color go with something loud! like a bright orange, lime green, No Yellow, that's my color, you can't have it! lol Keep the pics coming. |
