Default My Little Workhorse. Yup she's an old one.

1986 EZ-GO Marathon

Please don't laugh ,as i am a new Member and first time Golf Cart owner. I have seen some of your carts and OMG its amazing what you guys have done. But still i love my first little cart ever. Lol the batteries Cost me as much as the cart did and i only replaced them so i would be good in the future. I should have saved the old ones it was only a 9 dollar core charge on each but i didn't think of it :(

Well here she is ,My Little work horse. I use this for work Maintaining a campground and it makes my life sooo much easier.

Here is the condition i bought it in for $500. (Carts are Extremely expensive in my area) Cart also came with a Brand new charger.

This was the first fixes i did to it plus new Batteries:

Then my Boss brought me this thing that looked like total trash but i knew it was gold to me so i was excited. Grabbed My welder and put in a new floor and painted the whole thing in undercoating as it was going to take a beating with rocks ,logs leaves dirt etc. Also Made some EZ-GO Vinyl Stickers with my high end Laser jet printer that will handle the elements.

Final Photo of how it looks now. Besides i changed the regular charger end and and socket on the Golf Cart to 50 amp Dryer plus or something. Not sure what they are for i just got the highest amperage best looking set i could find at home depot. (Reason for doing this was son stepped on the plug and broke both parts cart end and charger end. And the EZ-GO design was horrible so i changed it to something allot sturdier and safer. (Will add Photos Later if anyone wants to see what i used to repair it. Total cost was under 20 bucks for both ends)

Also wired up a tractor battery and toggle switch and light on the dash for front and rear lights as i work at night sometimes if someone needs help.Made and Aluminum Panel to hold the switches.

Only Photo i have at the Moment of it complete if would like to see more i will take some tomorrow

I know it don't compare to the crazy ones on this forum but shes still my baby and i love it.

Really great job on the Carts here on this Forum and thank you guys for having me. Most of the work don't to my cart and My dads i got the help from reading this forum and now i own one i joined .

Take Care Guys

There's nothing at all wrong with that cart!

I had one at work just like it until a new employee decided it was the General Lee and tried to jump it over a ditch...

The fool found out 2 things that day:

1. Yes, batteries can actually explode when they weld themselves to the metal body of a golf cart.

and

2. I did in fact have the complete authority to FIRE him on the spot!!!

I still miss rolling around on that cart! She was the oldest of the ones we had, beat up, and slow, but she always pulled what I hooked her to and nothing would stop her once she started rolling! (including the brakes once in a while )

Thanks guys . Since being here on this forum i have learned and done so much. I cleaned my resistor box coils and replaced the hardware. I had no idea what that even was.. Lol i also ordered a new contact board and brush set for the throttle that again i had no knowledge of.

I am picking up a new cart from my buddy really cheap that really nice and much newer because he bought a Gator and no longer uses it. Its a Yamaha 36 volt with the light kit installed and the windshield ,Stereo 36 to 12 volt converter. for 500 bucks. he cant remember what year but knows its between 2001 and 2003. But i plan on keeping both because my Marathon is extremely cheap to fix and it is such a little work horse with the truck bed on the back.

Will keep you guys posted when i get my new one and will also show the Cart side/Charger side plug conversion i did using 50 Amp plugs from home depot. Worked out way better then the original EZ-GO plugs.

Take Care Guys and thanks again for everything so far.

Hiya guys,

I just picked up my second Golf cart that i got for $500. and the guy threw in a brand new 12 volt winch also. (Friend of mine. The new cart has been sitting for a couple years and even 1 of the batteries were cracked. But it did move forward and reverse so i figured i just had to drop in my new batteries and go.I was so wrong and really could use some help as i have been killing myself on it for 2 days non stop and have no idea what to do. Can you guys please Take a look its here in the Yamaha Area of the forums but no replies :( http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...tml#post746573

Thanks guys. I will be posting it as a Members Ride after i get it running right. I will do a before and after also as i fix it up. But right now i really need some help because i have exhausted all my knowledge and cut myself all up from cleaning wires all day with a drill and wire wheel. really not fun when it takes off and bites you. Lol Many times.

Thanks Guys and Please Help me get this new one going as i am not allowed to have 2 on my site.

Thanks MybadOmen
