Well I have made some progress finally. It was suggested by "todwil" to lengthen my swingarm so after much thought that is what I did.I don't have the resources to bend up another hoop so I figured out how to do mine.I ground the welds off the end of the swingarm tubes and removed the "sleeve" that is in there from the factory.I made two more sleeves but 4 inches longer.I drilled the original holes but added another set 3 inches back.I cut two 3" pieces of tubing the same size as the swingarm material and slid it over the sleeve(I will weld it all after mock up).i moved the rear axle front bolt to the original rear bolt hole and drilled another hole for the rear bolt.Once I got the axle bolted back together I took the motor plate I have( seat plate from a scrapped commercial mower) and set it in place to get the length I needed.I was going to go the route tom uses and go around the axle with u-bolts and plates.i figured out that if you cut the rear motor mount plate off the rear crossmember and turn it around,it sets the tube further back. The motor plate will be welded to the crossmember and to the front of the swingarm.I will be getting rid of the rubber mounts and will be making some plates that will be welded there and the crossmember will be bolted to.Nothing really fancy.............here are some pics of the test fitting.still have to get the plate drilled for the motor, more cutting to do and to be welded up.It's getting there.

I agree with the others. This isnt that bad at all. I've seen alot worst. A polyfan will take care of the surface rust.
I ran across this on youtube amonth ago. Might give you alittle "drive". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBxIAt5kw_Q |

Cool videos.I don't lack the "drive". It's the time,a welder, torch gas, room to work, dry skies that I lack, lol.I just need to get my crossmember welded up and the motor plate drilled.Once I get there,i can get the motor mounted and start running the electrical wiring to the dash.Plumb the fuel system and get a battery.Oh yeah, and mount and hook up my remote oil filter set up.Then I can tear it all back down and get it painted.

Well made some more progress today on the engine cradle.Got it all tacked together.Just need to sit back and look at it and make sure everything is straight. All my measurements come up good.Gonna take the motor off when I am satisfied it's right and weld it solid.I'll get it all cleaned up,painted and wired up.Hope to run it on jackstands to get it all dialed in.I have an 18 in the shed I am going to build after I get it going with this motor.

well I got a chance to do a little more on the engine assy.I have been working on a remote oil filter set up and got it together and welded the bracket for it.Plumbed it up and filled her full of synthetic oil.I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it to run on gasoline but it would run on carb cleaner. Then it hit me,fuel cut solenoid.Duh! i hot wired it with a small battery and away she went.Let her idle in the drive way on jack stands and run it up a little in gear.Works pretty good.I had to shave down my crank spacer behind the clutch a little till I got the alighnment right. Now I can get it back in the cart and get the ignition and guages wired in.Here are some pics of my filter set-up.Need to degrease it next when I get all the holes covered up.Also working an a air intake pipe with cone filter.
