Default Richie's Marathon

Well I picked up this 93 marathon cart with the intentions of just building it with the same lift and tire combo as my first one which was the same year cart.I got in here and started looking around and that changed quick!I was hoping to get the motor in it running but the starter seems weak.Has good compression but after I pulled it out I got to looking at the engine bay and decided I wanted bigger.I managed to get a 16hp vanguard so I plan on running it.I was going to buy one of Tom's engine mounts and chop off the front and mate it to my swing arm/cradle assy.I decided to just build my own and use the money for a clutch instead.I have it tore down to the rolling chassis at this time and plan on taking the engine cradle out to get the motor mount made.Once I get it running I will get it back together and get all the linkages together. Here are some pics of it right after I got it.It looks a lot better now, even in pieces. Thanks to all who have given me advice at this point and to those who will in the future. This site is great.

It does not look like a piece of crap by any means. It needs some work but all great carts take time and work to get them looking good. Good luck on your build I cant wait to see your work in progress!

Ok,so it's actually in pretty good shape. That was what my son called it when he first saw it.After I removed the rear body ,I had to cut the rear frame horns off because the left one was bent too bad from backing into something. Now it's a bobtail.I am going to try to rebuild it with some rectangular tubing that is the same size as the frame material and add a reese hitch.I will try to keep pics coming but my daughter just started cheerleading so there goes most of my free time.

No peice of crap...just a starting point! "Karnack" see's a "Bigblock" in this cars future. Well maybe not...but keep us posted with pic's and progress. The best "builds" start with the "homelest cars"!! Good luck Dave
