Default 1977 Ez-Go reconstruction. :>)

Well I have wanted a cart with a longer bed on it for a long time.It seems the "work" carts that are on the market are pricey.
SO when I was given this thing,I decided I had nothing to loose.
Heck if nothing else, the parts would fit my other carts.
But I decided the last week of October I was going to build the cart I wanted and couldn't afford.

So here are some pics of what I started with and where I am headed with it.
A ways to go yet,but the bed is 46 inches wide by 48 inches long.
I used 4 12 trailer wheels and tires to get a little more height without modifying the suspension.
The bed will dump using a electric lift from a John deere 112 garden tractor.
It will have full lighting and horn.
Hoping for a radio in the dash as well.On a electric you cant play it and drive but as it sits by the garden I can listen and work the plants.
I have adsorbed glass mat battery's in it and it is setup for 2 more in case I want to go 48 volt I can put in 2 more 12's.I put in 6 12's and wired 2 sets of 3 at 36 volt and then paralleled them.
To go 48 I would just put 1 battery into each set.
The seat cushion on the bottom will be divided and the forward-reverse and switchs will be in between the seats.I have all that fabricated.
2 foot added to wheel base to make the 4 foot bed look proportionate to the cart.
I know some folks will tell me a resistor cart is not worth the work I am doing, but it is simple for me to work on and the 2 I use are reliable.

yea the 12 inch wheels back when new there was a baby moon hub cap that fit them.but finding them will be hard to do.I had to weld and redrill the rear wheels as I could not find 4 of this type that matched.I only 2 4 lug wheels and 2 5 lug,got tired of waiting so that is why they make welders and grinders and drills.

I am hopeing to find 1 of the plastic roofs with molded in handles.Beige would be nice but white will work
I will be makeing all new brackets since this frame is not stock anyhow.
I missed a beige top at a tractor show in october for 35 bucks.I need to ride the butt kicking machine over time for that 1.

well I thought I was hooked up but no reverse and as soon as I turn on the key switch it trys to go forward when the lever is that way.
It has PLENTY of wheaties as it lurched forward ,running over my foot, and jambed it's self up under my work bench.
So If I can fiqure out this bug,I think I will be happy with the function.Plenty of work to do yet,but wanted to go to bed tonight knowing it was pulling it's self anyway.Partial success anyway.
I layed the wireing out a little so you can see.
I may have the forward reverse switch assembled wrong or something, aint sure of my self on anything right now. When a tractor trailer hits your pickup and leaves you with brain damage, sometimes puzzles like this fry what is left to a crisp!
2 photos were took before wires were "finished".
I used this diagram which i just relized is on this site to.
http://www.vintagegolfcartparts.com/...=100013&Page=1
That is why there is 2 switchs, but I aint sure about that as the thing didnt have but 1 micro switch and I added the second to comply with the wireing diagram.Since my back up buzzer is dead,I was going to get 1 later.so I did not connect that wire up to the switch.

EDIT, I moved the switched blue wire to the other side and switch and now have forward and reverse. But the problem remains as Soon as I turn on key, cart moves

No update pics today BUT I finally got it to a shape I was ok with driveing it around some.So far very good.
I drove it about a 1/2 mile around and then back in the shop.Actually drove it on some snow and ice and it did great.

I have done alot since the last pic but keep forgeting to take more.
I do notice the resistors stink when I putt putt around.I hope they burn off clean and quit that.

I found a top I wanted to ask about.It is on a 96 ez-go.Plastic with handles
I can get frame, top and windshield for 75 dollars.
I feel like the front frame work may fit my old 77 ok and I was allready going to have to fabricate all the rear mounting anyway.
I did not measure the width of the front mounts on the 96 cart. is it about the same width as my 77?
I also solved my beverage holder problem.Found a 4 holer from a 93 for 5 bucks.Has some cig burns but dont look to bad at all.
