83 DS 48v conversion
My neighbors dad had a 83 DS rotting away in his car port. He finally pulled the trigger and we are bringing this baby back to life! The list so far is:
48 v conversion New harness MCOR conversion Grey paint job Rear flip seat Lights 80" Elite top Carbon fiber dash 205/50-10 wheels/tires Black seats with Stealth Mfg high backs Stock 1204-410 controller Stock Albright solenoid Going to leave the 36v motor and see how it goes Most likely going to eliminate the OBC and use a DPI charger I forgot to take a picture before I dove in and stripped it |

Re: 83 DS 48v conversion
How did you go about cleaning things up? Is that some coating on the frame?
I'm looking forward to following this one because it's what I'm planning, at least electrically, for my cart. |

Re: 83 DS 48v conversion
I pressure wash it then spray it down with white lightning aluminum brighter then pressure wash again to rinse.
I did do a light coat of silver metallic in the battery bay |

Re: 83 DS 48v conversion
I converted mine from 36 to 48 Volts and kept the 36V motor. As long as you don't abuse it too much it'll be fast & reliable.

Re: 83 DS 48v conversion
Got the controller and solenoid mounted. Batteries are in. Wired it all up then went back over everything to confirm. I wired the key switch to test. Hit the pedal with the highest expectations aaaaaaannnnnnndddddd ...... Nothing. Jumped the solenoid and she took off so I will replace it tomorrow. I'll post some pics tomorrow...errr later today
