1st Golf Cart > to match toy hauler
I'm new around these parts, and I've never owned a golf cart. I've been around jeeps, muscle cars and mostly motorcycles. I've never had any experience with golf carts, but I know that getting what you want if you don't start with the right set up can be costly. So I'm looking to you guys to lead me along the way.
We are picking up a toy hauler, and it would be nice to have a golf cart to haul on those vacations where it's handy. :) I have 2 kiddos, so a 4person cart is a must. I know that I can still fit it in the toyhauler (barely) if I do a 6" lift. I golf occasionally, but not enough to have that factor into the use of the rig. It's primary use will be for camping, and driving around the hood. I'd love to have a custom cart instead of the plane jane. So....if one wanted to build a 48v car, with a 6" lift, for 4 people, and custom paint can it be done for $5k or $6k max? What make and year should I look at or stay away from? I'm in Phoenix, and I don't have all my tools, so I'll be looking for a local place to help me. Any, and all advice welcomed. I have a lot to learn. |

Re: 1st Golf Cart > to match toy hauler
well whether you get a good looking, working or a non-working POS donor cart.....the $5k to $6k number is in the ball park.
as far as make.....any of the BIG 3 will do (EZGO, Club Car, Yamaha) as far as the years....as long as its one of the newer drive systems, it really doesn't matter the year. and I know you already mentioned 48v.....and that is the way to go, even if you need to convert it. |

One thing I'd add: if clearance is an issue a 4" lift would help out, plus make it easier for people to get on and off the cart.
