Default Here is where it all started

Let me introduce myself, my names Daniel I have been building cars and motorcycles for a bit over 20 years now. First vehicle I ever put together was a go cart I found as a frame in a trash pile after hurricane Andrew in 1992.
I love cars/trucks the more weird ones are my favorite.
I've been wanting a golf cart for years now, but other projects got in the way and just didn't have the time to put something to my standards together. A couple months ago, I made the fools choice and bought what I was told was a year 2000 EZGO gas golf cart. I didn't know much of anything about them and at a glance I only spotted minimal problems I thought would be an easy fix ( understatement of a lifetime! ) first time the wife and I took it for a ride the motor go really hot and started smoking and spitting oil. The jerk off I bought it from to put it nicely had done a good job trying to hide all it's issues with paint and undercoating. Compression check came up with 18-20 psi in the cylinders of the original Robbins 295. After learning how to read the serial/manufacturers number I figured out what I bought was actually a 1995 EZGO medalist with a TXT plastic body on it. Just about every bolt on the thing was loose and many missing, and on closer inspection the frame looked like Swiss cheese from the rust damage. Not one to give up easy I decided let's make this build Epic, and do a frame up restoration/ hot rod job on this old cart. I'll post some pics and explanations to show it's progress.

Here is the frame just before removing the last components, after this I cut out and welded in new metal where there was rust damage, followed by a complete sandblast and fresh coat of gloss black powder coat

Frame back from powder coat and rust repair, so it was time to put it back together. 90% of the hardware on this build is stainless steel, and the other 10% is high quality grade 8 used in key stress points.

Big block motor mount and jakes rear long travel in place. I also rebuilt the rear end and swapped out the gears to a 6:1 ratio for a little more top end.

Rolling chassis with its wheels in place so I could move it around a little easier. I ended up with 18" from ground to the bottom of the cart, and 9" at it's lowest point at the center of the rear end.

I'm a bit picky about my electrical work so I installed a marine fuse holder to distribute power to the cart.

I went with a performance drive clutch, and a 28 degree driven clutch to try and have decent power off the start since I went with the 6:1 gear ratio.

The honda V-Twin really looks at home in the engine compartment. Almost looks as if it could have been a factory fit. I will be re coating the header with Jet Hot to give it a better finish, keep heat down a bit, and make it last longer. I know most guys that do the big blocks prefer a louder exhaust, but I actually like that this one is fairly quiet, so I can enjoy the stereo instead.
