2005 EzGo TXT pit vehicle

New project I picked up last week. The new (to me) 2005 EzGo TXT gas cart will replace the old 1991 2 stroke I was using on loan the past two years.

Along with the cart I brought home a whole truck load of new parts for the build. These include...

- brand new EzGo factory painted body
- heavy duty leaf springs
- head & tail light kit
- new black roof
- new front & rear bumpers
- horn kit
- M&M flip rear seat with flip up foot rest
- rear hitch kit
- stainless rocker moldings
- tinted windshield
- rear view mirror
- 14" wheels & tires
- steering wheel hub
- steering limiter
- new ignition and decal with headlight position
- body rivet kit
- new front body emblem

I also purchased a new Grant steering wheel to match the one on the race car. Given my OCD, I gotta keep things matching. lol

Maintenance wise the cart got an oil & filter change, new spark plugs & air filter as well as tweaking/preloading the rear clutch and adjusting the governor for 18 mph (was set at 13 mph stock).

Next step will be new matching seat covers. Fronts are standard, but the rear covers had to be custom made. They will be black with silver stripes. Hope to have the end of next week.

Nice looking street pounder. I like the diamond plate rear seat/bed.

Well we used the cart at the track yesterday for the first time. Pulls the car great, will actually maintain 13 mph pulling on flat ground.

Knowing this now I doubt I'll look any further into a big block swap.

I do have a potential tire rub issue in the back with people on the back seat. Tires are 20" tall and I already installed the heavy duty leaf springs.

Researching options right now. Prefer not to lift much if at all. Saw some mention of air shocks, maybe a slightly longer shackle plate like the new Valor carts have.

I could also slightly clearance the rear corner of the body fender opening but will keep that as a last resort.

I picked up the midrise/Valor shackles today. Went to bolt them up and found the rear wouldn't drop down far enough to allow me to bolt the leaf spring to the shackle. I then disconnected the lower shock mount and sure enough it bolted up fine.

Height wise I think the shackle deal will fix the tire rub issue. But now it looks like I either need longer shocks or a small shock extender which I don't see working on only 1" of lift.

Dealer is gonna look into the 2" midrise shock for me on Monday.

Oh yea, I also the seat covers came in so I picked up those as well. Worked on that for a while today, many what a PITA. I'm not an upholsterer, working with vinyl is no fun, nor is pulling out a couple hundred old staples, then the new ones want to bend all the time due to hard spots and knots in the plywood. Got three seats done, only one backrest to finish tomorrow.
