motor rebuild problem
hi all,so i just rebuilt my 93 ezgo motor and on the first start up there was a knock so i pulled it apart again found nothing of concern . so i put it back together still doing the same thing the funny thing is if i take the valve cover off and cover the oil port it no longer knocks but it on and it knocks.before i rebuilt it did not have a knock though it just smoked.
any ideas? |
Re: motor rebuild problem
loose rocker arm or is the rocker arm hitting the cover or not enough oil pressure on your bearings and when you cover the the hole its allowing to build a little more pressure

Thanks for the input i was thinking the lack of oil pressure but what could i do to increase the pressure the mechanical pump seems to be in pretty good shape.

Re: motor rebuild problem
its defiantly primed as if i take my finger off the oil port on the head it will shoot pretty good

Re: motor rebuild problem
if the cover is on and you run it with the oil cap off does it knock?
|
Re: motor rebuild problem
yes i think so i can check later

Re: motor rebuild problem
did you replace the valves or cut the seats? it sounds like the rockers are hitting the cover
|
Re: motor rebuild problem
had them cut did not look like they were sitting to deep though ,but this sounds more like a metal on metal knock will defiantly check later
