has 6 12v DC in 48v system..?

Our shop has a Club Cart 32, yr 2002 48v system and somone has replaced the battries with 6 12v deep cycles, running series parrallel putting out 36v but they are still using the 48v 15amp charger! Anyone succefully run/wire 6 12v batteries up for 48v? Will wireing 4 batteries (series parrallel 24v) to 2 remaining 12v batteries in series for 48v be very efficient. Short of adding to more 12 volt batteries it is the only method I can come up with. Otherwise the existing system gets overcharged being as it is 36v not 48v!

Any help appreciated

I don't understand when you say series parallel at the same time?

2 * 12 in Parallel = 12 , 2 * 12 Parallel = 12 , 2 * 12 series= 24 Volts .

So if the first Batteries 1 & 2 are in parallel, and connected in series to Batteries 3 & 4
which are also in Parallel and then connected in series to batteries 5 & 6 which are in
series you should get 48 Volts. But the available should should go way UP
BUT the chargin would either take longer or be incomplete for the Parallel connected Batteries.

Very VERY interesting !
