two day brush guard

4 Attachment(s)
hey though since i didnt get any help with the home made lift measurments i desided to build a brush guard for the front. i like the factory bumper so i wanted to keep and i didnt want just a tube bumper and didnt want it to turn out baha looking either so i went with a pickup truck kinda look. i think it looks good and will look even better after i add the light kit. first day(yesterday) was design, cut, fab, tac and today was weld, clean, raddel can, mount.

Looks nice. How did you make the bends?

Bends were made with cheap harbor freight pipe bender. You can see the bender in the background of one of the pics I posted

What type of tube was it? I have been looking at the HF bender and just got a 25% off coupon today!!!

the tube i used was 1/8 thick because thats all i had left. i can get 90* bends with 1/16 tubing but you have to fill your tubes with sand and tape your ends off. its not too bad for mr because i have a blast cabinet so i just use the sand from there and put it back. the bender i got from HF came with dies for 3/4, 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 tubing and the only tubing i've ever been able to bend in it with out filling with sand was 2 inch di and 3/8's thick.(that is for a 90* bend, will bend any tubing to bout 35* with out filling with sand

The bender from Harbor is a pipe-bender,pipe is measured by ID(inside)Tubing is measured OD.Thats why it crushes the tubing. If you buy some black-pipe(like stuff for gas-lines in homes at Home-Depot,Lowes,etc..)You can bend it without worrying about it crushing(keep the seam on the inside of your bend radius),and its' fairly cheap. Its' more than strong enough for stuff like brush-guards.You can also buy schedule 40 pipe from a steel-supply.That will give the same bend results, but is much better pipe. They are a decent bender if used properly, everyone i've talked to that has one either says it bends great(pipe)or it just crushes it(tubing).Like always, use it as it was designed, instead of trying to make-do and you will be happy with the end results.Hope this helps.

Is the gas supply type pipe easy to weld? I may go that route.
