Default Cushman motor

This is a motor from a 1961 Cushman Golfer. Can I replace it with any 36 volt motor or will I have to get an exact one?
Thanks
Kevin

I don't know about replacement but I have had many different electric motors, starters, generators rebuilt at a good electric motor repair shop. Usually cheaper than replacing with new.

Thanks Skoal82. I've had a hard time finding a shop to work on it. The ones I call or stop in to just do the big industrial motors. I'll keep checking. Someone in my area has to do these.

That's a very basic motor and an easy rebuild. Not sure why any good golf cart shop would not take that on.

OK I had my motor rebuilt like new. I hook up everything and I have 36 volts going to all 4 post on the motor and all 4 post on the forward/reverse switch but nothing at the resistors or the foot switch control. Should I have voltage at all 4 post on motor and f/w switch? Should I have a reading from resistors?
Thanks
Kevin
