76 ClubCar Caroche- This is gonna take work.
Well, I finally found the serial number of the clunker cart I picked up recently.
Turns out it is a 1976 ClubCar Caroche. It's rough, and is gonna take ALOTLOTLOTLOTLOT of work, but isn't that the fun part anyway? I don't know how in depth I am going to get, whether I will resto it, or just get it up and running. How hard is it to lift one of these beasties? I'll get a couple of pics up tomorrow. PS. Does anyone have a ball socket throttle linkage for one of these laying around? |

Re: 76 ClubCar Caroche- This is gonna take work.
My son and I started working on the wiring changes. We are replacing all the large gauge wiring with 4 AWG THHN and solid copper lugs. I went over to NAPA today and ordered the master cylinder rebuild kit. Anyone ever taken their pedal assembly out? The brake and accelerator pedals are stiff, and won't return on their own, so I'm thinking I have some corrosion on the pivot shaft. I'm figuring if I pull it all apart, and clean and lube everything up, it should move better. I'm sad to hear it's a problem to lift one of these carts, but I'm not surprised. If I can get it running for use at the lake, I'll be happy as a clam....

I'm not sure you have the cart identified right. That body style is not a Caroche. I'm not a club car guy so maybe someone can tell you what body style you do have.Try roadys serial number guide for Caroche serial numbers.

I pulled the serial number off the frame and looked at the guide and that's what it said. Could it have the wrong body on it? The serial number is N14993.

Re: 76 ClubCar Caroche- This is gonna take work.
Yes it could. These carts have been around for awhile and different owners do different things to them. I don't think "wrong body" is right. It just doesn't have a caroche body. I have a friend that owns one. I haven't looked inside his for awhile but the electrical looks about what I remember his looked like. So if the serial number is right then you do have a 1976 club car with a newer body style.

WOW Parts of it look like a caroche. Ours had a shifter that ran front to back.
Heres some pics of ours. http://forums.cartpartsplus.com/viewtopic.php?t=1038 |

Re: 76 ClubCar Caroche- This is gonna take work.
After the holiday weekend (at the cottage) I went over and picked up the master cyl kit I ordered. I found a new to me set of rims and tires on Craigslist at a very fair price and picked them up. I am going to replace all the wiring from the speed selector behind the dash and the key switch. I found a nice piece of 8 conductor cable that will do the job nicely. Today I started removing the pedals assembly and cleaned up the master cylinder mount and pushrod. I was going to go further, but my garage is actually my yard, so I was deterred from working any longer by rain, wind and lightning. If I get an hour or so before work tomorrow, I'll try to get the pedal assembly fully removed...

I got the pedal assembly out today and further cleaned out the master cylinder mount. I took the dash mostly off. I'm gonna pull the steering wheel so I can pull the dash all the way off. Now I just have to figure out how to get the pedal assembly apart.
