Thanks smallblock and I took a quick look at the contact in question and removed it and sure enough it is not square flat and true. I dont think flipping it over will be the best solution so I will replace all these contacts with 1/4 inch thick 1/2 wide and 2-1/4 length or whatever the other sizes are. It looks to be copper and I will try getting new stock for it on Monday. I will use the electric grease also and then check into the Potbox set up. Thanks again for your info and help. Great site and Great Members here.

I have this same cart as well, with a bit more drastic customization done. I have had the same arcing issue, I did replace the contacts as well as replaced the the copper wiper arm. Still had a arcing issue, which scares the crap out of me after a few beers plowing through puddles. I also need as much info on this cart as possible. I left my cart out in my carport last winter, which leaked I might add. Therefore getting the motor somehow wet and possibly seized my bearings. If you have any info for parts etc. that would really help out. I will post pics of it when i get some respones.
Thanks for anybody input.

Hi Donnielasky and thanks for writing. I dont really have any extra parts but I did come across the original manual which is a copy and it has the wiring diagram and battery cable hookups in illustration. I have alot of pics I took of when I had my cart apart and if I can be of any help to you please feel free to ask. I would like to see your pics and im curious as to what has been modified on your cart. Do you know what year the cart is? Mine has a Jan 1962 motor and a Nov 1961 body so I would think my cart is a 1962. Maybe you can take your motor apart and get a motor shop to inspect it for repair.

Hey I have a Sears Lectracar Diplomat II that I am restoring. Can I possibly buy a copy of that manual? It would really help a lot.
Thanks,
