Default GE 36volt external 16 spline

I've got a Caroche early 70's and it has a GE 36volt with an external 16 spline. Does anyone know what type of more powerful motor is compatible with this? Wanting more speed, all flat lands here so torque isn't that important yet. A friend of mine told me I should address the gear ratio instead of the motor...... Is that fair to say? This thing turns 2800 rpms.

Any thoughts on getting her to move quicker other than a straight motor rebuild?

Thx in advance!

Hi, they have a motor over at vintagegolfcartparts.com that has the 16 spline shaft. RPM 3850, though it ain't cheep. My Pargo's with the terrell differential take the same type of motor. What I need is a high torque motor, since I don't think there are gear sets for the terrell differentials, and we have big hills here in Western Pa.

Cool Re: GE 36volt external 16 spline

Let me start by saying I'm here at the beach and it's back home. Let me get back and see if it's the right amount of splines. I think it is but I want to be sure before I get to deep with it. I had Robby do it several years ago and never installed it. I sold the cart before I got around to it.

OK Andy,
Hope you recover well, sorry didn't know you were out of commision. Get better soon and let me know when your back at it.
BTW a beach house should help with recovery! At least it would for me
