06' EZGO build- Air Ride, custom dash, Tv, and much more
So I am finally putting my build thread together. My cart was built 3 years ago with a custom lowering kit, paint, 12" wheels and all the basics. But after 3 years of the same wheels it was time for a change. I am a complete car addict I can never leave anything alone and customize every car we buy so my cart is no different
I'll start with a rundown of some of the mod's planned: -Monroe air shocks converted to 1/4 line -Custom rear trailing arms -Energy suspension bushing's custom made -2in lowering block's on top of arms -Cut and hacked body to make it work -EZGO lowering kit using front axle only -cut and relocated shock mounts on ezgo axle -new steering mechanism (mine was cut already, so to short now) -completely new paint job possibly 3 tone or 2 tone -New extended roof -New custom seats front and rear -In dash 7in flipout touchscreen TV/DVD w/ipod integration -4, 6.5in speakers -hidden antenna -2 air ride paddle switches -Dual needle gauge (air ride) -6 carling rocker switches w/ blue LED -carling contura mounting plate for switches -2 LED voltmeter's (blue) -Harley Davidson ignition -LED headlight bulbs with new blue lenses -clear taillight lenses -AUX. battery to run everthing -12 connection marine fusebox w/neg bus -Full carbon fiber dash kit w/ steering wheel and polished column -Billet pedals, shifter, front grille -Chopped windshield, roof, steering column, rear seat bars -Custom sideskirts -widening the rear body with spacers to tuck wheels -Viair 280c compressor w/2 gallon Viair tank -new carpet on floor -Under cart LED 7 color w/remote control most likely 2 full sets -12 or 14 inch wheels (still undecided) -custom colored lug nuts -repaint the frame and all suspension components -cigarette lighter -new rear wheel studs -new rear end seal and that's what I can think of off the top of my head Here is some pics after i built it 3 years ago. Everything was still the same except I added the rear flip seat. Most people would be more than satisfied with that but like I said I have a problem! Truth is I wanted air ride since day one but with limited skills I went the easier route last time. This time I am all in!! I started work on it 3 weeks ago, working only one day a week about 6 hours that day. The cart is located at my grandma's so i can't just go down and work on it in my limited spare time which makes it even more difficult to accomplish anything. This is where the cart is so far..... -Disassembled completely -Rear arms and bushings built and mounted -frame cut and hacked to clear motor - bagwell cut (needs cleaned up those are ruff cuts) -EZGO front axle cut and rewelded (moving the mounts lower though) -Battery tray sanded and painted once -Makeshift airline set up in place to test (yes it works) -almost all welding done just need to finish welding blocks and front mounts I have until camp opens on April 15th to finish!!! That's where it sits as of now. Trying to make it over this weekend to finish welding, move the front mount's to get the front lower and paint the frame and suspension. But with owning a pizza shop working 65+ a week and 3 little girls 6 and under it's ruff to find time |

Re: 06' EZGO build- Air Ride, custom dash, Tv, and much more
Update:
-Took apart front suspension and repainted it, added some silver pieces to mix it up -made custom front grille -cut 5in out of steering shaft to shorten the column -welded in a big structural support brace on frame -ordered headlight and taillight lenses -flipped front springs back to stock(must do with this axle) only parts i don't have are extended roof (need opinions on a good one), wheels and seat covers(can't find any i like) onto pics...... much needed support brace the start of the front grille 5in of steering shaft gone! how it looked after flipping springs I DONT KNOW WHY CELL PICS ARE ALWAYS HUGE SORRY should be a HUGE week for the cart this sunday. starting to cut up carbon fiber dash and starting all the miles of wiring that will go into this. after I cut the holes in the body for speakers the body will be ready for paint just waiting on my painter to give me the green light on bringing it down. more pics to come after sunday. |

You've been busy, keep up the progress. Not to be funny or bash, but try flipping the switch on your welder to "high" (looks like it's switch to low right now). I only say that because my welds were similar to yours in the first picture, I tried it on high and after playing with the wire speed my welds are 100x better...no more spatter and better penetration. I'm still learning, so i'm just passing on what little knowledge I have.

yea those are my brothers welds. neither one of us knows how to weld good but i don't know how to at all! i'll relay the info on switching to high, wish i would have known that earlier! alot of splatter on those welds but they should hold up (i hope). thanks for taking interest in the build, doesn't seem to be to much interest in it |

looking good! Where are you getting your air shock control parts from? I just installed air shocks on my BBB and am thinking about a compressor, tank and fill valves.
