Basic security for a street legal cart parking
Hey guys, I have a street legal cart that I drive and park around town. I have the unique ignition key and ive been using a bike lock to lock the wheel turned to the curb.
The issue im having in a normal pull in parking spot. Sometimes there are no car on either side of me, which would make it easy for anyone to just push the cart back out of the spot. I considered the brake to steering wheel lock but the wheel is so easily bent I figured that wouldnt do much keeping the parking brake locked. Then I came across a few ideas 1) using this wheel clamp called trimax ~$52 from amazon, attached in picture 1. https://www.amazon.com/Trimax-TCL65-.../dp/B0031XULF2 2) another wheel clamp called tms, half knock off the trimax, looks different and is ~$28 https://www.amazon.com/TMS-Wheel-Tra...tms+wheel+lock 3)using this 8ft cable masterlock and pulling it through wheel spokes on one of the front wheels and through the center front axle eyelet. Its about 8 feet. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Master-Lock...e-Lock/3020162 Any suggestions? This is all to make less likely to get messed with thats all. I understand that if someone wants to steal it nothing will stop them. As of now its just easy to press the gas pedal to unlock the parking brake and have the cart in neutral/rolling away. I like the cable idea but the first two look more intimidating from a distance as the cable someone could not see it and try to mess with it not knowing. |

a simple kill switch and it wont start . they can still roll it away still but a steering wheel /pedal lock gets them pushing in circles .

If you have spoked wheels, a bar lock through both front wheels.

That looks like a PIA to me. Has anybody tried a simple car alarm? Simple motion sensor [properly adjusted of course] and you could even arm it with your key fob. COOL.

I use a hidden kill switch. My theory is that if they want it bad enough. they will just winch it up onto a vehicle and worry about it when they get it somewhere else.
We have lots of golf carts here in town that leave their carts in public unattended all the time, and theft seems to be no issue, luckily. |

I've always wondered about a GPS type system? What is out there for options?

Re: Basic security for a street legal cart parking
When I went to school down in Fla I encountered my first audio or talking car alarm. Pulled into the eye doctors parking lot on my Harley and this van started talking to me. "Please step back-if you don't step back the alarm will sound"-- I didn't --I reved my bike -- the siren sounded, the horn started beeping, people started coming out. And the biggest part of it all --- I never touched it. Just the sound vibration set it off. And it was LOUD. I'd check out something like this type of alarm system.
