Disc brakes?
I was wondering if anyone if familiar with the disc brake kits out for golf carts? I'm thinking about adding it to my cart and another project. Would you recommend just the front discs? Just back discs? Or all for discs? For my project it's going to be fast so I'm thinking brakes all the way around would be the best idea.
Opinions? And If I were to do both front and back disc brakes would I be able to have all brakes connected to the same cylinder or do they both need individual cylinders? |

Re: Disc brakes?
I am in the process of converting my cable drum brakes to hydraulic drum brakes. A master cylinder will operate those rear brakes.
I am then going to add front disks brakes that operate off their own master cylinder. I don't like the idea of not having a cable operated parking brake. With going with a single master cylinder set-up, if something fails in the system then I would potentially have no brakes holding the cart in place. The same concern exists for just regular braking as well. With two separate systems, if there is a failure in one system then I should still be good. The only way I could see both systems failing at the same time is if someone messed with the brakes. |

Re: Disc brakes?
I thought about leaving the drums on the rear and discs in the front.
My other project has no operational brakes at this time so I'm debating what to do for that Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk |

Re: Disc brakes?
Why not use an automotive master cylinder with 2 sides. An adjustable proportioning valve to distribute the stopping power -- 70% to the front --- 30%to the rear just like a real car. That's what I'm doing, only I have been working to setup hydraulic disc in the rear. I'm using a master cylinder made for all wheel disc brakes. I have a pair of Acusco rear disc and Yamaha 600 rhino rear calipers. Still working to build the caliper supports.

Re: Disc brakes?
I just purchased EZGO 2016 L6 & 2014 S4. Exporting to Costa Rica. Extreme hills. I wish to upgrade brakes prior to export. Newbie -Requesting suggestions. Bear in mind new location, so build/replacement can't be exotic. Any "Plug N Play" swap upgrade solutions?
