Have you load tested the battery? With as long as your battery has set during the build - this is the first place I'd look.

I used a known good battery because I thought that might be the problem. Voltage is good but slowly starts dropping instead of rising when the pedal is pushed.

New starter/generator is working just fine. Now I'm dealing with white smoke, oil leaks and miscellaneous sputtering. I've ordered a gasket/seal set for my engine. I think that the company may have sold me the wrong kit because I explained to them that their description didn't include my year for that product. The tech said that it would work but I'm no mechanic, so I'll see when it gets here.

The kit says it fits a 1991 - 2002 295cc engine. Is the 2006 295cc engine the same?

The answer is NO! The kit that they sold me part number 4818, is for a 295cc Pre-MCI. My engine is a 295cc w/MCI. The guy tried to tell me it was the same kit and I told him I thought it wasn't the same. Guess who was right? Now I'm having to send back the wrong one and get the right one, part number 4838.

Sometimes the customer is right.

Unhappy Re: Rack and Pinion

I finally got the engine back running and everything seems fine, except the oil pressure light will not go off. The light was going off before I took the engine apart. Any ideas on where I should start troubleshooting or what the problem might be with the oil pressure? I'm not a mechanic, so I very well could have missed something.

Thanks in advance.

It could be a defective sending unit. Can you get a mechanical oil gauge to hook up to verify whether you have oil pressure or not?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll go borrow a gauge today. What should the pressure read? The engine that I'm using is from my 2006 EZGO TXT with 295cc Robin with MCI.

Hopefully someone will have the answer to your pressure question. I had a pressure problem in an old bike of mine. low pressure. I replaced the sending unit and still no pressure. When I put a gauge on it I had great pressure. The new unit was bad too. At least the gauge will verify a problem.
