Thanks I'll call him tomorrow. But even my Allstate agent told me it's OK when the actual policy states OFF ROAD. Then the underwriters for Allstate said NO for street use!

My Allstate Policy:

Bodily Injury $100,000/$300,000
Property Damage $100,000
Unisured Motorist $100,000
for Bodily Injury $300,000
Collision Actual Cash Value
Comp Actual Cash Value
Optional Equipment $1,000

$143.17 total premium for 09 ASPT LSV

But the policy states on page 1, Off-Road Vehicle Policy Declarations with Allstate.

Funny thing... that's the same Allstate insurance company/agency I use, McMullin Insurance, just a different agent from there.

Called again and the answer is still an emphatic NO, only Off-Road. If not on grass we're S.O.L.

Have a call in to Gary McMullin, the Owner of that Allstate agency and will speak with him directly sometime today... hopefully.

Hey Mike :)

He never called me. I've got meetings tomorrow but will try to call him in between them. I was told he gets in around 1ish. Let me know if you get to him first. I hear you on what I was told as well... until now!

Florida Farm Bureau told me today that the policies they write are under their Home Owner policies for golf carts, not street legal. For example he said he writes tons of policies for the Villages but they're not for Street Legal, (State Streets 35 MPH or under.)

I'm striking out left and right...

Don't you believe him for one minute!!!
Do you think I'd have a wallet card if it was under my H/Owners policy???
Another company "Foremost" pulled that stuff on me when I had a GEM car.
That's why I have Farm Bureau now.

Just a heads up from what I am finding:

If your insurance has your GOLF CART information and NOT your ASPT information, you DO NOT have the right coverage to cover you. In other words if you are running a tag on the back of your cart you need LSV insurance and the only way to have it is if your ASPT LSV is listed on your insurance. So far I have found two that "might" write the real insurance needed and that's State Farm for $604.81 a year and Florida Farm Bureau if you have an auto as well, (they were $400 more on the car and also $300-$400 for a possible policy for the LSV. More information to follow...

PS, It doesn't matter what your AGENT tells you, it matters what the actual Underwriters tell you for their particular insurance companies.

Cat Boat Racer,

Gary McMullin states that both of us have the WRONG insurance for our carts if we're running a tag on them. Give him a call directly to find out the particulars.

I wonder if this is the same regardless of state. In NC, the insurance I have, has the golf cart information, but I have comprehensive and collision coverage along with UnderInsured/Uninsured coverage riders on the policy. The VIN number is not included on the policy information.

Scuba, So does that mean we were mislead intentionally into buying policys they knew werent worth a cup of piss ? If so arent they opening themselves up for liability when or if theyre was an accident ? I havent talked to Gary yet (closed on my house today ) kinda busy day, but will try again on Mon. ! Ive been cruising the village for a couple months uninsured, even pulling the skis to the ramp. Kinda pissed off about it now ! Mike

I'm not sure how it would pan out. He mentioned that he was sure we weren't purposely misled and also stated that if we didn't have a PLATE on the vehicle and it did LESS THEN 20 mph, under the Off-Road policy we would be OK as long as we're not driving on City Streets. Trust me... we are not alone on this, there are many more LSV's out there that think they are covered as well. All I know now is that no matter what, I'm going to pay to have real coverage in case something happens that demands the proper insurance.
