Hello all, Please go here for important information regarding insurance for Low Speed Vehicles owned and operated in the State of Florida: http://www.newsomelaw.com/resources/...-speed-vehicle

And Go here for Florida Statutes regarding Low Speed Vehicles:

http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/...speed+vehicles

It all boils down to this, everyone who owns and operates a Low Speed Vehicle in Florida, must register and license the vehicle, which in turn, requires the vehicle to be insured just like any motor vehicle. I have a Tomberline LSV and have insured it as required by the Florida Statutes. My Alstate Agent offered to insure it for a premium of $520.00 per year. I ended up changing my insurance to Liberty Mutual. Now I have both my automobile and LSV insured with Liberty Mutual. $998.00 for the auto and $135.00 for the LSV on a separate policy from the auto. Unfortunately, Liberty Mutual is no longer insuring LSV's. An LSV is not a Golf Cart and insurance offered for Off Road Vehicles will not cover an LSV to the requirements of the Florida Statutes.

I got my LSV insurance from State Farm for 138.00 a year and it has PIP insurance. I have the same coverage on my cart that I have on my automobiles. I don't think its a bad price.

Thanks... A lot of folks think they have LSV insurance when they don't. Your policy MUST have the PIP box checked on your insurance card as a quick check for this to be a true LSV insurance.

Here is the actual breakdown of my State Farm Policy. They require at least one automobile in order to write an LSV policy. I have no tickets or accidents and my FICA score is well into the 800's, (used to determine where you're placed in State Farms premium ranges. The state of Florida regulates all insurance companies and when they request a rate for specific types of insurance it must be the same for all as long with driving record, credit score and muti-vehicle discounts to plus them up or down. So my actual policy is shown below which totals $262.44 a year. No Bull... Just the facts.
Vehicle 1: Coverages Coverage Description Premium 2009 ASPT LSV, driven less than 7,500 miles a year.
Coverage Description Bodily Injury & Property Damage Bodily Injury/Property Damage Liability Limits of Liability-Coverage A-Bodily Injury Each Person, Each Accident $100,000 $300,000 Limits of Liability-Coverage A-Property Damage Each Accident $100,000 Premium $14.52 Coverage Description No Fault No Fault Premium $122.02 Coverage Description Medical Payments Medical Payments Limit of Liability-Coverage C Each Person $5,000 Premium $16.00 Coverage Description Comprehensive $100 Deductible Comprehensive Premium $24.85 Coverage Description Collision $100 Deductible Collision Premium $46.15 Coverage Description Emergency Road Service Emergency Road Service Premium $1.60 Coverage Description Uninsured/Underinsured Nonstacking Uninsured Motor Vehicle Limits of Liability-U3 Each Person, Each Accident $100,000 $300,000 Premium $34.70 Coverage Description FHCF Assessment FHCF Assessment Premium $2.60
Total Premium For Vehicle 1 $262.44 The total premiums include your discounts.

Hey Gunny,
Unless you hve some special dispensation for your situation, Florida requires all vehicles that are registered to have PIP (Florida no fault insurance). Better check on this this because the fine for not complying is pretty steep!

no requirement for insurance on motorcycles in florida. you have to have a minimum of $10,000 in med coverage to ride without a helmet though.
