Default Road Legal in Central Florida?

Hello all

This is my first ever post here to please be gentle with me :) First off hello to everyone, I only found this forum last night but I am glad I did, looks really great and love looking at everyone's carts!

OK need some help please, I recently started using my golf cart around my community here in central Florida and discovered that I am not allowed to use it on a public road....so I took it home and its been in the garage since!

So doing some Googling I discovered Street Legal Golf Carts...then I discovered this forum. Yippee for both :)

I have a gas powered Club Car, its around maybe 8 years old if I had to guess and it runs quite well and I look after it and would like to do a conversion myself to make it street legal if I can.

Has anyone done this themselves here before? I keep seeing electric carts converted street legal but not many Gas carts, am I am allowed to convert a gas cart?

Any advice for a complete newbie at all this please?

Thank you all

Stuart

Sorry I missed this before... you can only get your cart Street Legal in Florida if it's electric, not gas. There has been mention here in the past that a couple of individuals got theirs approved by the DMV having gas carts but the actual Florida status specifies Electric Only.

If thats the case about only being electric, then couldnt you just register it as a kit car, or "sand railesc" vehicle? And if so, what are the requirements for such a vehicle?

How about this scenerio, an electric 02 ezgo txt, converted to gas. It was previously electric, so can it be registered as an LSV?

(legit responses please)

The paperwork for Florida states Electric ONLY and your vehicle MUST be inspected by the DMV office nearest you in order to get it titled as an LSV. A real live individual from the DMV will be touching, inspecting and possibly driving your vehicle, verifying that everything that needs to be done is completed. If by some chance they do not drive or start your vehicle and they sign off and attach a VIN sticker to it then MAYBE you could get away with a GAS cart... that is until a police officer stops you!

320.01 Definitions, general.--As used in the Florida Statutes, except as otherwise provided, the term:
(42) "Low-speed vehicle" means any four-wheeled electric vehicle whose top speed is greater than 20 miles per hour but not greater than 25 miles per hour, including neighborhood electric vehicles. Low-speed vehicles must comply with the safety standards in 49 C.F.R. s. 571.500 and s. 316.2122.

I completely understand the sneaky aspect of it, and trying to get over on them isnt what I'm looking to do. Does anybody know the requirements for the sandrail/kitcar area, or do you think thats probably a dead end as well? Because thats gonna completely change my plans for my cart.

Ive been looking through Florida statutes and found this. Theres not a clarification as to the requirements of this class, but it might be my loop hole. Does anyone have any knowledge on this statute?

(45) "Mini truck" means any four-wheeled, reduced-dimension truck that does not have a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration truck classification, with a top speed of 55 miles per hour, and which is equipped with headlamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, taillamps, reflex reflectors, parking brakes, rearview mirrors, windshields, and seat belts.
