projected speed...
ok guys, ive used the speed calculator but its saying itll put me at 58 mph.......im not seeing that as true. I was wondering/trying to figure out what the top speed of my cart would be if i switched from stock gearing (12:1) to speed gearing (6:1). Im running an AC motor with stock everything (tires, gears, etc) and getting 29 mph....anyone have a better estimate than the 58 mph? i mean, thats twice as fast and i know thats not right.
thanks |

Re: projected speed...
physics and math say that is correct, BUT, your going to run out of amps long before that. your wiring and controllers will be overtaxed. you'll also have no bottom end torque.you'll cook the bearing in your axels because they'll be spinning their little butts off!! The sky will fall and your wife will leave you for rosie odonell i think you'd be better off with a little larger tire (20"-23") a 23" should give you about 25% increase without cooking any of the above mentioned components.

Re: projected speed...
well on a full charge i have 80 lb/ft of torque, so it wont be spinning tires anymore but im almost positive that that is enough to still have some with 6:1s. the only reason why i only go 29 mph is because it is governed at that, not topped out

Re: projected speed...
hahaha if youre talking about austin, the cart isnt there....its north of houston. or maybe youre talking about gettin 29 mph on a 48v with 80 lb/ft of torque..well thats the ac motor thing. i just dont want to change the settings on the motor to go more rpm, the motor should handle up to 9,xxx rpms but i figured it would be better to leave it at 6900 rpms and have it going 40 something on only 48v...thatd be nice
