Softer Suspension for Road Carts
We use our 2005 EZGO PDS on the streets within our village, and only rarely on the golf links here.
Our streets have some bumps, and I would like to have a softer ride from this cart. Short of running low air in the tires (which I don't want to do), is there any practical way to get this cart to ride softer? Lowering would be OK. Maybe someone should make a kit for those of us who use a cart primarily on the street. Any thoughts on this topic would be appreciated. |

Re: Softer Suspension for Road Carts
With low profile tires that are common on street carts, its hard to get a soft ride. Plus, carts having leaf springs also takes away from a smooth ride. But, with some mods and cash you can do away with the rear leafs, make some trailing arms and get some good coil over shocks and smooth the ride right out.

Re: Softer Suspension for Road Carts
I use a 2 link/trailing arm setup on my cart with air shocks to eliminate my rear leafs and it rides great.

Here is a though, someone should design, build and distribute a simple cost effective trailing arm setup to be used with or with out a lift kit. Just something simple that would eliminate the rear leafs for a smother ride.

Re: Softer Suspension for Road Carts
Blake80, yes a good kit for trailing arm would be nice.
Has anyone ever tried just removing the short leaf from the main leaf on the rear and/or front springs of the EZ-GO carts. I am tempted to try it -- leaving the springs as just single leaf main. I think some of the rear suspension on some automobiles back a number of years ago had single main leave. Anyone tried this, or have some thoughts on it? |

Re: Softer Suspension for Road Carts
Tx i used to build lowriders years ago. Some guys with their trucks tried running mono leafs by removing all but the main leaf. The good side is that it does make a soft suspension. But, there are a few down sides. First, i have seen almost everyone of those trucks bust the single leaf because that one leaf was not designed to hand the weight load by its self and definitely not with hydraulics. Second, load capacity. You lose all load capacity. Third, its just not safe because ive seen two of trucks snap the leafs just riding down the road and they lost control of the truck.
So, in my opinion. I would not do mono leafs unless you can find a mono leaf the was designed to be that way. |
