Given the perfomance upgrades on the way for my '07 EZGO should I be looking at upgrading to a limited slip or to a true posi like the Plowman's? If so, what is the learning curve on the install?

My opinion is you do not need to do it. This is one part of the cart which is already overbuilt. I have a 25hp gas monster cart that spins both rear 25x12 all terrain tires from a stop even with the wheel pulled full to one side... I can't get her stuck and this is all with the stock Dana rearend.... that's just my opinion... what are the rest of you guys seeing from 94 & up Ezgo?

Does the cart has some sort of limited slip now?

No it is an open diff....

Interesting. I guess I don't understand how both tires spin with an open diff??

terry, i have the plowman's and is a really easy install. i have athread about it somewhere here. mine does spin both wheels!

I had read about the Plowmans. It sounded good but wasn't sure if I "needed" to do it or not.

I have never had a problem getting through mud and rough terrain with my ezgo workhorse or my club car. Ezgo on 27's club car on 27's then 30's. I drove through 2.5 foot of mud and water in my club car and never got stuck. If you are building a dragster I might consider it, if not I wouldn't.

My train of thought was purely from an automotive background. I would NEVER dream of building a high performance car or any kind without some sort of posi/limited slip rear end. I just have no idea if that was an issue with a cart or not. I see all these videos of big wheelies but not to many burnouts. The burnout video on the PQ site shows their drag cart pushing the locked front wheels to do even do the burnout. It obviously has the front brakes engaged and the rears free during that video. I also noticed that in the race video, they go around the water box and don't even hop the tires to clean them so there is obviously no traction issue with the drag cart I just wasn't sure how that transferred to a street cart like mine. I understand that the weight distribution on a car is much different...backwards actually...to that of a cart so I'm sure that plays a big role in the traction equation.

Just for the record, I will be doing 48v and with 500 amp controller and all the goodies that go along with that including a motor from PQ. Scotty has poisioned my mind....and my wallet.
