Default Predator Ridge Resort Pavement Pounder

Hey Guys

It's "UPLOAD TUESDAY" and we have just finished the Prince George Cabin Cruiser over in the lifted cart section, so it was time to start another customer project.

Check out the start on this cool buggy.

Good start to a cool looking cart. I run those Duro tires and love them.

What kind of prep did you have to do on the roof before painting? I am going to be painting my roof, but there are a lot of gouges/cuts/scrapes on the front portion of the hood. My plan was to sand and fill the cuts, I would like to get rid of all the texture in the hood to get a nice smooth surface. May be easier though to just buy a new hood and paint it.

The roofs, along with the rest of the body is a process to ensure that everything adheres properly.

There's all sort of different techniques and I am sure if you ask 5 people they will give you 5 different answers, so I am only commenting on what works for us

We thoroughly clean the roof with soap and water. Once we think we have it cleaned, we clean it again. Then we wash it with a wax and grease remover. From there we scuff it with a 3M scotch brite pad. Then we sand it with 400 grit sand paper. Next we clean it again with wax and grease remover. Then we use a plastic parts cleaner. Then we use an plastic adhesion promoter, then we spray an adhesion (light still transparent) coat of the color of choice. Then from there we spray it as if it were a normal part.

In your case if you don't mind a little elbow grease then you can save some money over purchasing a new roof by following all of the above process.

When you get to the adhesion promoter just do the damaged area and use a resin to fill in the scuffs and scratches (in that area use a 220 grit or even a 180 grit to give the resin a good bite)

After your happy with the repairs you can sand the whole thing again with the 400 grit and then clean and follow with adhesion promoter etc...

Hope that helps.

If you are just looking to paint your roof black, then just buy a black roof, but if you want a roof with a specific color then you'll have to go through this process.

Thanks! I'm looking to match the roof to the body, so looks like I am going to be spending some nights in the garage. Hope the wife doesn't mind.
