Default Lowering my ezgo

Just got started lowering my ezgo and had a few questions. Started out with this

Flipped the leaf springs and took out the shocks to see how it would look. I bought air shocks but didn't have time to make lower brackets tonight.

I was kind of disappointed that it was sitting so high until I realized that the steering rod (I'm sure that's the "technical term") was binding. I pulled it out so that I can shorten it tomorrow and finally it sat the way I was hoping it would.

From looking at the steering mechanism, it doesn't look possible to drive this low because of the shear angle between the steering column and the steering mechanism. Has anyone succeeded in getting one to ride almost this low? Can I move the steering mechanism to straighten the path out? The suspension stuff will come soon but I want to drive it as low as possible.

Also open to suggestions on air compressor and tank setups... I've been looking at viair stuff because it has a good reputation and I know people with good first hand experience with their products. I'm open to suggestions though.

Thanks. The bus and Gti are mine, the TT is here to get a big turbo setup installed for a friend. It has no motor or trans in it right now... Shhh, not sure my neighbors would be too fond of that. Lol

I may to have time to mess witH the cart again til next week but m oping I can find a way to stay pretty low and not bind. Open to suggestions.

What compressor are you running? I was looking at their 275c I think. Are you running the Monroe air shocks that I've seen others on here use or a different bag setup? I was talking with viair about compressor sizing and they wanted to know how much pressure I need to raise the vehicle but i have no idea yet. Lol

Got it. The problem I'm finding is that the inexpensive prepackaged systems are made for Onboard air for tire inflation and tool operation so the tanks only have one port. I'd like at a minimum 2 ports, but ideally 6 ports would be nice.

even mine had an optional fitting so that I could air up a tire or someone else's if need be. the systems have one port coming out of the tank, then your line goes to a manifold block for each line you want to supply air to.

What I would suggest is to go to a shop that does installs and have them show you some of their work and how its configured to achieve what you are wanting to do.

I did a few things not in my kit.....like the power switch for the compressor, so if the car is going to sit for a while, I can turn off the system. Then power it back up when I want to. my system maintains 120 psi. there is a pressure switch on the tank, and once the pressure drops down to 90 psi, the compressor kicks on and brings it back up to 120.

the compressor in my kit is available by itself to use in other set ups. and is $179 from Assured Automotive. its the 6th one down on the page.

It can be driven that low. Before you cut the steering shaft, I would look at other options. With monkey-1 help, I went with an almost flat front leaf spring that was 1" longer. I really liked doing it this way, but I think I still had to cut some off the steering shaft. You don't want to cut much, maybe 1/2". I had mine slammed where the front tires were about 1/2" from rubbing the fenders. I ended wanting my rear even lower that just a block. I was able to drill another hole in the leaf spring strap in the rear. You can look through my thread if interested.
