Default lowering specific year club car

Hey BGW, I come to you with a problem that, as far as i know has one solution.
i have what i believe is a 90 or 91 Club Car DS. if i were in front of it i would tell you exactly. the motor, clutches and rear end are mounted to a swingarm, in turn bolted to the frame. what i want to do is lower this to the point of an inch of wheel gap. i've got tools and can fabricate. the rear end is shot and the motor burns oil and has a blown head gasket. i want to swap either a mild sled motor or a streetbike engine in.

should i delete the swingarm, build a cradle/subframe and just stiffen the suspension so much that i could use a belt/chain to drive it.
OR
adapt the new powerplant onto the existing swingarm?

thanks in advance.

DS-models are all the same for the most part.If you put blocks between the axle and springs(the springs are under the axle),it will lower the rear.I believe the shocks are connected to the axle-plate under the spring,so that won't change, allowing you to retain the stock shocks. The front will require one of 2 things, either a modified front-frame,or a custom built spring. The suspension is mounted above and below the front-frame,so just raising the parts up isn't easy.We built a custom spring for another member here(Offtwice),so that he could slam the nose,it looks awesome.Hope this helps.

actually that helps alot. slamming the front isn't too much of a concern, it's the rear that's getting me.
