Default Qickest and easiest way to lower???

Fellas, help me out. I have an 05 ezgo and am bothered by the way that the rear sits lower than the front and the gap between the front plastic and the tire is just too big. any way to lower the front end only a tad? i've got 12" wheels and low pros on the way so i think a tiny front end drop will make it look perfect.

thanks

The way the E-Z-Go front suspension is designed, you will need some HD front springs if you lower the front, otherwise the tires will rub the body. The easiest way to lower the front is to move the spring perches from the top of the axle, and re-weld them to the bottom of the axle. Correct placement is critical.

Edit: Not sure if you can move the perches on an '05 because of the steering box. Mine is older.

Quick and dirty, heat the leafs with a torch. You run the risk of the leafs loosing their temper and breaking. Other than that there not really an easy way to lower it without unbolting and bolting, buying parts.

Not sure if flipping will lower it "just a little".

LOL, don't think I want to take a torch to it just yet...I haven't even sliced my hand open turning a wrench on it yet!

Ok, so if there isn't a quick and easy way to do it....is there a time consuming expensive way? I've owned the **** thing for 4 days and am already trying to do a million things to it....and i swore to my wife i wouldn't treat it like my cars...poor woman actually believed me! :D

You can Fab some blocks to place in between the spring and "pad". Longer bolts will be required. The amount you lower it will be directly related to how thick you make the blocks.

The blocks effectively "raise" the axle in relation to the springs.

This may sound HOKEY 1/4" wedge on the rear perch plates
this should taper the springs upwards a couple inches!!!

I have tried to do a quick fix to lower an EZGO but don’t expect to turn. The rear is an ez fix. I added a 3' square tube between the axles and leaf. The front I tried to flip the leafs and the problem with that is the shocks are fully compressed and gives a super ruff ride. That is when I started to install air shocks so I could get the look parked and still have a cart that was useful. When I installed the front shocks I had to relocate the lower mounting bracket to have travel on the shocks. I think I have a pic somewhere on this board.

I'll tell you what it has a super mean look when these carts are lowered!!

I'd remove the springs and take them to a spring shop and have them "dearched" a small amount. Tell them how much lower you need to go, and they'll make it happen. I used to do this for trucks, before notches, 4 links, etc. were so common.

Or just go to a gun store, buy some bags of shot, and place them somewhere up front to weigh it down. ;)

I have this same idea. Once we get some warm days I'll look if this can be easily done. The wedges have to be very secure so they never move.

I got it! How about you add some HD rear springs and replace the ones that seem to be worn out. Factory standard springs are stiffer than most Aftermarket HD springs. Get yourself a set of OEM 4 leaf HD's - you"ll be sitting level again...
