It has a separately excited motor. (don't ask, google it) Dcs carts produced tons of torque and were considerably faster than their Series wound predecessors.....But, they had one hole in them. If you run them low on battery power they will smoke the speed controller.... which is bad and expensive to replace.
So the next generation had a low voltage cut off and it was called the precision drive system (PDS)
