this one is a freak of nature for our area. This is not normal or anything being close to that being normal.

I shot a 9 pointer Sunday afternoon. It was chasing a doe and looked wore out. I guess the secondary rut must be going on now. It was only the second legal buck I have seen this season. I hunt a QDM county where rules are at least 4 points on one side. Deer weighed about 180-190 lbs live weight. I left my camera at camp so will try to get pics posted next trip there.

My cart's batteries were down so this is on the Jeep's carrier, but I tagged out last Saturday morning taking these 2 does. Intended to only shoot one more, but that top one had a serious death wish which I accommodated. Still have a lot of butchering to finish up. Took some over to the local food pantry last night.

I shot this cull buck on January 4th. He was 5 1/2 and just not up to our standards.

I am sorry that you had to shoot something not up to the ranches' standards. You shouldn't have to compromise like that. Next time, call me.

What my standards are is: At 5 1/2 they should score at least 150 or better. This buck scored 129. Now that is not bad but I took him out of the herd. He is a "trophy" to me but not to my deer herd. Here are some other deer I have harvested in the past few years. My son and grandsons do most of the hunting on the ranch now days. They get to shoot the "good bucks" I get most of the culls.
