Default 98 txt rear hub damage

I had been noticing some noise that I couldn't pinpoint. Assumed it was front wheel bearings but upon inspection today they seem fine. Lifted the back end and found lots of play in the rear wheels. One side in particular. I could slide the hub in and out close to 1/8". After a good deal of beating I got the hub off. The splines are in rough shape. Castle nut had the key in it so I guess it was never torqued. Good news is the axle splines seem ok. Anything else I should look for while I'm ordering parts?

Check the other side too. Make sure the axle bearing is not bad. Torque the nut to 140lb's you should be good

The odd thing is when I found it loose I tightened it up. The castle nut was so far in the cotter key would not have engaged. Missing a part?

Both washers were in place.

New hub arrived today. Brakes rub a little but I assume I'll burn off the high spot?
