Default melted battery terminal

I was driving alone and all of a sudden the golf cart stopped. I look and one of the battery terminals is hanging off by the wire and the post is all melted. I have recently changed the battery wires and added a freedom chip. Could either of these been the issue. Also is it fixable or is the battery toast. How do I keep it from happening again.

It can be tapped. Use the forum search to locate instructions with pictures!
This was likely caused by a LOOSE connection. Good Luck

You may have over tightened the nut on the battery terminal when you changed the jumpers. Is the whole post loose in the battery case?

all these melted posts pics I see never have any lock washers on them.
that was the first thing I did was buy some stainless steel lock washers and make sure they are tight, then the lock washer will do the rest.....keep it tight.
