Default 3 x 12 volt solar panels each across 2 x 6 volt batteires

I've hooked up 3 x 12 volt solar panels to my golf cart and it seems like my distance has been decreased.

I have controllers set up so it doesn't over charge

I have a standard charging setup with a Delta-Q charger. In addition I have the three solar panels. Panel one goes from 0 - 12 volts across the first 2 batteries. Panel two goes from 12-24 volts, and Panel 3, 24-36 volts.

Theoretically, this makes sense electrically, however, I'm wondering if there's a better method.

I "heard" you could put the three in series, but I don't know how to set up the controllers to regulate something like that.

Thanks for your help everyone.

To make this work the panels need to be in series With one controller 36v or higher When wired in series the voltage of each panel add up but not the amps, when wired in parallel the amps build up but not the valtage. I have made several solar panels and my shop is all solar. Unless you are real lucky it will be hard to find panels that will produce the voltage and amps you need. I would try to build my own or find 3 36v panels then wire them in parallel that would give you the amps. The panels are rather easy to make. PM me if you like and i will go into more detail with you to get started

Hello Crosswired,
I have a 2002 Gem Car which evidently has the older charger. I was hoping to add solar to top up the batteries more than my charger can. Is this doable? What do I need? Thanks,
Jeffrey
