Update:
I set the toe in as much as I can which pretty much brings the tires flush but still toed out just a bit. But when I sit on the cart and move they seem to toe in just a bit. I will continue to mess with the toe this weekend to find the sweet spot. I will also try and fix that s bracket and if I can't then replace them. But the test drive tonight was much much smoother than how it was. The only thing is the steering wheel was spinning too much and not lined up with the tires. Could be bc I did not tighten down the tie rods completely? Mike Mac I am going to take your advice and pack the steering box full of grease this weekend. I read So my Yami Won't Start and that got me on a journey that found me this post which I found helpful. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...egulators.html After I plugged in the Starter Generator I started getting voltage when the engine was running but it was going up to 18 volts or so. I followed the above post and took the cover off the regulator and adjusted the screw and low and behold now I was cranking it and it was maxing out around 14.5 so that obviously did something. So maybe we are on to solving that mystery and may finally not have to always be charging the batteries. The weird thing is that when I was revving and testing the voltage on the battery as it hit around 14.5 volts it was like the engine then cut out/slowed down....is there a governor on this thing I have somehow now tapped into? I feel like when I bought this thing the guys told me they did something to get around the governor. And they may have bc for years I have had that thing flying up and down the road. Is there a governor? With the starter generator now plugged in and the regulator potentially doing its job is there something else I should be checking or know? The G2 has a rev control in the ignition. Can't get around that, far as I know. There is also a speed control on the tranny, that may be by-passed. You will be impressed with grease in the steering box. Search that on the search feature here. Need to read how to adjust the jamb screw and nut.
Also, when setting toe, drive the car forward about 15 feet, then set the adjustment. If its been way out, you may have to back it up, drive it forward again, then again adjust toe. |

What is the large piece in the middle of the rear axle with a tube coming out of it? Is there grease or something in there? Is that something I am supposed to check periodically?

The transaxle.
Forward and reverse gears are in there. You check the 75/90 gear oil by removing the 10 MM bolt kinda at the back of that case on driver side, below 1/2 way up the case on the side. I pry out the rubber breather hose at the case, with a small screwdriver. That is the fill hole. Fill till oil comes out that bolt hole. Maint is the key to a GREAT running car!! Reading this site will teach you what to do!! |

The transaxle holds .8qt of gear-oil.If the toe-in is good with you on the cart,leave it where its set.Remember that its constantly changing as the suspension cycles,and parked with a driver is a good Nuetral point to check it. G2 has a Rev-Limiter in the ignition-box,the only way to get rid of it is to upgrade to a G9 ignition system(pulsar and ignitor).You can tighten the adjuster up all the way on the axle govenor and pick up quite a bit of speed that way too.Hope this helps.
