Default Vanguard 18 head gasket

Anyone out there have any HANDS ON experience with small vanguard head gaskets . The book shows two different gaskets early and late (post 96) early was metal and late Graphoil which is a composite my question is are they interchangeable and is so the graphoil one is probably an improvement over the metal
Also has anyone used copper ??
O yeah my engine is pre 96

Use the graphoil gaskets. You can use the copper ones as long as they're solid copper. Also, the copper ones are prone to leak if your heads and block arent 100% true.

Wow, it's incredible what people will do. You have to wonder why the sealant? Check the surface for cracks and make sure it's true.

No valve seal on the exhaust side, they just burn up and melt. While the head is off check the valve guides, make sure there is no play or wear.

I think they reused the old metal gasket and silicone the u know wat out of it had so much oily gunk up inside I don’t think the exhaust valve was closing intake needs grinding anyway went ahead and ordered new valves SMH
Reason for asking about exhaust valve seal is it had one on it

I've heard of people using them, but I don't think they came that way. I could be wrong here. Maybe a briggs expert will chime in.
