Re: Anyone tried RoyPow lithium kit yet?
Haven't been on here in a while, but enjoy catching up on all the threads. I've had a Chinese built 48V 100ah pack for over 4 years (paid ~$2,100 after shipping and import fees), and since upgraded motor and controller.
Mine is built out of 18650 batteries and the box is a bit larger than the Roypow, but the concept is the same. I used this forum to learn how to replace the BMS and put it back into operation. Now, thanks to the really smart folks on here, I had planned a LEAF build. However, after again researching the Chinese Lithium market, had decided to buy 16 LifePO4 (48V, 150ah) Batteries and build my own box. Lots of boat builders in my area (South La), and planned to have them build me a custom aluminum box for all components. I am also researching different chemistry's because I really prefer a higher power density. My other option is a set of 14 NMC or NCM batteries which are closer in density to the LEAF cells. Anyway, just thought I'd add my 2 cents. Also, stay away from a cheap BMS as one user noted. I'm on #3, so I speak from experience. Getting ready to replace it with a Chargery. |

Re: Anyone tried RoyPow lithium kit yet?
For those of you who have reached out to multiple retailers on RoyPow, is the pricing all roughly the same, excluding shipping, or are their deals to be had by calling around?

Re: Anyone tried RoyPow lithium kit yet?
My system is over 4 years old, so I paid just over $2k. However, prices have come down a good bit since then. If you are electronically inclined, I'd build my own pack. I've decided against the Leaf cells and ordered 16 LifePo cells which where actually as cheap, brand new, and 152ah.

I got them from a Chinese company. Paid $918 which included shipping. Came in just over a month and were very well packaged. If your interested, I’ll provide a link.
