Rear differential
Hey guys, I have a 1999 Club Car DS 48v
I have it up on jack stands and when I spin the left wheel I can hear what sounds like a ball bearing dropping. Doesn't do it when I spin the right wheel. I've changed the gear oil and still does it. Suggestions? Thanks |

Re: Rear differential
Yes. It's def. coming from closer to the center section... Sounds like ball bearings being dropped into a metal bowl. dink... dink... dink
Gear oil that I took out looks pretty clean too... No metal in it... Guess I'm gonna have to break it apart or try to locate a good used one. |

Re: Rear differential
Does it make any noise while driving straight? Only when you turn short? The spider gears can sometimes make a similar noise and it is usually nothing, just the teeth meshing, since they are straight bevel gears they are not exactly quiet by design.

Re: Rear differential
I have only tried the cart on jack stands. The noise only happens at very low speed and right when it's about to stop spinning.
