Electric EZGO TXT won’t go
I have an electric ‘96 EZGO TXT 36 volt. When I bought it, it wouldn’t go and I
determined that someone had hooked up the + and - battery cables backwards. After changing them back and new batteries, the cart worked. I had changed the solenoid though because I thought that was bad as well. Cart worked for awhile, but would not go after driving for an hour or so, the capacitor on the solenoid would get very hot during this time as well. After sitting for awhile the cart would go. Replaced all the cables with 4 gauge welding wires and what I thought was a bad ITS. I was very careful to remove each cable one at a time to assure correct placement of the new 4 gauge cables. Now the cart will not move at all, the solenoid clicks, but no power to the motor. Do you think the controller is bad? If so, can I test it? The selector switch is old, but seems to have good connections as it has voltage when moved to different positions. Thanks |

Re: Electric EZGO TXT won’t go
Welcome to BGW
If the problem occurred immediately after changing the cables I suspect the problem is in the cables, the cable routing, or a small wire that shares a post with a cable (at the solenoid) It is very unlikely the controller went bad while you changed cables unless you saw a pretty big spark |

Re: Electric EZGO TXT won’t go
I disconnected the batteries from the cart. Not sure if there was residual votalge, but I did see small spark, like static electricity when changing one of the cables. Is there a capacitor somewhere on the golf cart? I am certain that all the wires were hooked back up correctly to the controller. Also, I have tried the test of putting a multimeter on the + battery teminal and the M terminal on the controller. There is no volatage on the M teminal with key on and accelerator pedal depressed fully, even though the solenoid clicks.

Re: Electric EZGO TXT won’t go
Do you have power on both sides of the solenoid when pedal is engaged.
The solenoid is a switch. The large terminals is the main power route through the center of the solenoid. The small wire closes a switch inside to allow the power to flow through it and send it to the controller. |

Re: Electric EZGO TXT won’t go
The battery side(large) shows 41.9 volts other large side shows 41.6 volts. When pedal pressed, both large terminals show 41.7 volts. M lug on controller shows 1.7 volts and doesn’t change when pedal pressed and solenoid clicks.
