Default Ezgo 36 volt motor

This is probably a stupid question but I have read do much on these different motors the series and the shunt, regen, and the sensor is a shunt but some of the and the separately excited
I'm need to test the motor on a Marathon three wheel that I'm stripping to use the parts
The terminals on the motor all form a straight line rather yhen a box shape. I know it's an older one but does that change anything in the way testing or anything on that motor?
I appreciate you
