Suggestions for Controller Stock "02 DS 48v
Hello all. I've finally stepped into the insanity. I purchased a used 2002 club car DS (the serial number begins with a "T" so I believe it is actually a villager model).
It is a lifted cart but I do not know the exact dimensions of the tires (20-ish probably). I am assuming everything else on it is stock. I would guesstimate it runs along at a solid 15-18 mph with me in it alone. I was hoping to get into the 20's. We will be using it on the road primarily with a few other passengers in tow. I live in a pretty flat area but I do like running up and down parking garages from time to time. My question is will I benefit from an upgraded speed controller? Maybe a 400 amp? I don't want to put too much money into the cart as we just purchased it and I don't want to burn the motor up right off the bat.
Its seems like the Ezgo carts can get 24-25 mph with a speed controller upgrade but I haven't seen as much about improvements for an otherwise stock (presumably) motor and battery pack on a DS. The cart is already 48v and batteries are roughly 2.5 years old.
Thanks for any input. I'm sure I'll end up with some sort of Plumb Quick motor eventually but I need to get a year or two out of this one first. I don't want to blow the thing after we broke the bank purchasing it... Thanks again.
