The wire on A2 comes from the coils and A1 comes from the back of the F&R switch on the right side if you are looking towards the front of the cart |

Re: Melting wires????
It's the old timey way of describing the winding inside your Motor .
Before this thing overheats and starts melting stuff are you actually driving it or is it up on blocks ? And this was originally a 36V motor correct ? |

Re: Melting wires????
It was running fine then all of the sudden these wires started to get hot. Yes it is an 36v motor, but i was told that it would be able to handle the 48v fine?!?!

Re: Melting wires????
I totally went dumbass on this. The A's are armature, S's or F's are field connections. Disregard my field coil post.
Replace the cable ends or the whole cable. If it still happens you have may have an armature short. The motor will handle the extra voltage just fine....are you running one of those "speed boosters" off of ebay? |

Re: Melting wires????
Just a question here on wires. I was having a Sirus installed in our BMW last week and the shop that performed the work has some 1/0 cables that they used for powering power amps in cars. This stuff look tough and lots of strands. Has anyone use this type cable vs the regular cable you can buy? This stuff was quite pricey, something like 3 bucks per foot.

Re: Melting wires????
The stuff you describe is not in an oil and acid resistant sheath

Re: Melting wires????
Iv'e heard about people who do that....but never hear from them again. It seems they would rather argue about it than listen to people who have done it before and try and help them save money and grief. They are not designed to hold up to oil and acid abuse. They are good for delivering power and being pretty. Go ahead and try some, be sure and let us know how it goes.
